Village of Leipsic Seeking Public Comment on Project
Leipsic, Ohio August 14, 2026 – The Village of Leipsic, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 11988, is seeking public comments regarding the following proposed project in the Village:
- PUD Leipsic Pedestrian Improvements (PID: 126931) – The Village of Leipsic, in partnership with ODOT, plans to enhance the Village by installing approximately 7,060-feet of new concrete sidewalks, ADA/PROWAG compliant curb ramps, and crosswalks along with some curbs in various locations throughout the Village, including Orchard Dr from SR 65 to Buckeye Park, a portion of Rush St to Buckeye Park, Vine St from Liberty St to Mathias St, State St from Blank St to the entrance of Bennett Park, a portion of SR 65 just past Blank St to Dollar General and South St to S Poplar St. Additionally, the project will include approximately 2,315-feet of 11-foot wide asphalt multi-use trail. The trail route will be from South Street running south parallel to the railroad on Village owned property and then turn west connecting to the Leipsic Sports Complex parking lot off Wellfield Drive. Vehicular through traffic and local access to properties where new sidewalks will be constructed will be maintained during the construction. However, where there may be on-street parking, parking disruptions are expected.
- The Leipsic Sports Complex is designated as a public recreational property that is owned and maintained by the Village of Leipsic. As a designated public recreational property, it is afforded protection under federal law. The use of federal funds requires measures to be developed to minimize harm and advance public notice be given of impacts to this recreational property.
- Construction is currently scheduled to occur early in 2028 and be completed by winter of 2028. (2) Public meetings will be scheduled and announced via the Leipsic Facebook page and the Village of Leipsic website.

Please provide comments within 15 days from the day that this was published. To help expedite a response, please provide the project name and PID number provided above as well as contact information. Comments without contact information cannot be responded to. Project related issues that the public may wish to comment on include but are not limited to, historic or cultural resources, and ecological resources.

The Village has updated the Zoning Permit Applications for Fences, Accessory Buildings and Swimming Pools. With this update of the applications, this will make it easier and more effective in the permit approval process. In the past, there has been no charge to apply for a permit, however, to help cover administrative time in reviewing, processing of the applications, there will be a $25.00 non-refundable application fee for all permit requests that will be due when your permit is picked up. Thank you for your attention to this new policy.

If you are thinking of those warm weather projects such as fences, sheds, swimming pools, additions, etc…please contact the village office to see if a permit may be required for your work. A little investigation now will create less headaches later. Call the office with your questions

As the warmer weather is here or approaching, I would just like to remind all residents of our AWESOME Village, remember to keep our properties cleaned up from garbage, items in an unsightly manner as well as keeping our yards mowed. Not only does this make your property look wonderful, it makes your neighbor’s property look nice as well. When we all take pride in our properties, the whole village looks nice and clean for not only us, but for people who may be visiting. Let’s all take the time to do our part and keep Leipsic looking GREAT!!

The Village of Leipsic is accepting applications for 2026 for sidewalk projects to be completed in 2026. Those wishing to apply for a portion of the $10,000 grant must return applications to the Village Hall. The grant applications will be available at the Village Hall.
